For a town with a population of 14,000 people Skipton has an incredible range of quality national stores and even two department stores.

But it is for its array of independent specialist shops that Skipton is best known. You may need to move away from the High Street to discover some of them, but it is well worth it if you are looking for something a little different.

Skipton shopping areas:

High Street and the Market

The High Street and adjoining Sheep Street have many fine local shops.

Most of Skipton's national brand stores and a department store are located on the High Street.

On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays the High Street is home to Skipton's famous open air market.

Craven Court

This Victorian covered indoor shopping arcade has a mix of quality national names and independent shops. It is renowned for its beautiful Christmas decorations.

Victoria Square and Coach Street

Between the High Street and the canal waterfront, this area has the Tourist Information Centre, various individual shops and possibly the best choice of licensed premises in Skipton.

Mill Bridge & Chapel Hill

The oldest part of the town, there are specialist shops for fine furniture, superb wines and the Celebrated Pork Pie Establishment.

Otley Street and Rope Walk

This cobbled street has interesting shops and cafes. Don't miss the turn on the left leading to Rope Walk.

Swadford Street & Belmont Bridge

A bustling area, there is a variety of shops and a department store. By the canal bridge is the famous Bizzie Lizzies, and over the bridge towards the station are a large DIY store and a supermarket.

Newmarket Street

The entrance to Skipton from the Leeds direction, this street has a varied selection of shopping opportunities.

Keighley Road and Sackville Street

This area is home to small shops, business services, with a large supermarket, bus station, and cinema.
