Skipton location and transport


Skipton is easily accessible by road or train. It is about 12 miles from the end of the M65, which terminates in Colne, or else come from the south via Leeds and the M1 or from the north via the A1 and Ripon.

Skipton StationBy train Skipton has connections to Leeds and Bradford, to Morecambe on the west coast, and the famous Settle/Carlisle line. There is also a daily through train to and from London Kings Cross (about 3 hours).

The nearest airport is Leeds/Bradford, about 30 miles away.

Skipton Bus StationNational Express coaches run direct from London Victoria Bus station to Skipton. The whole trip takes about 5 hours or so. The bus station off Keighley Road with its distinctive orange Pennine buses provides services locally and to Leeds/Bradford.

You can also come to Skipton by canal boat, and moor in the centre of town. You can cruise from Skipton along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal for short breaks or a week.

There are six taxi firms in Skipton with official taxi ranks on Swadford St, in front of the Co-op by the Bus station, and outside the railway station.
